Case Study: CladPlus Composite Cladding
Christopher Kimber from Cirencester got in touch with us at CladPlus, looking to clad his new garden room with our contemporary, low-maintenance Optima cladding boards in cedar. After sending through some fantastic images of the finished project, we caught up with Christopher to see how things are going with his transformed garden.
Christopher told us that our cladding product met his expectations, adding that opting for a composite material meant he could order the exact length boards he needed to adhere to planning permission. “It really worked,” he said, “And I was able to use the off cuts for cladding the underhang, so I really felt that I could customize the length to what I needed specifically.” He mentioned the quality and colour were to his specifications too, and overall was impressed by the final result. This is the first time Christopher has worked with cladding, and he told us that he was looking for a wood grain effect without the maintenance of traditional wood cladding, and with the added benefit of our warranty agreement. “It looks like wood rather than composite, which is the effect I wanted. It does look pretty much like cedar. I'd say it did meet my expectations on aesthetics, with the added benefit of the maintenance-free composite material.”
We were interested to know why Christopher decided to work with composite cladding; “Basically, we built a new garden room, sort of games room, and I specifically didn't want to have to do any maintenance, staining or anything afterwards.” Christopher went on, “I looked into the cost and I wanted to be sure that I wouldn’t have to deal with yearly maintenance or any chance of the material splitting and warping. So, yeah, composite is a bit more expensive but in the long run it’s a good investment into the future.”
Finally, we were keen to know what impressed Chrispher the most about CladPlus products and service, “I’d say the service was great,” he said “because Melissa (CladPlus Sales Executive) was very attentive and always kept me in the loop about delivery times. I also needed a couple of extra bits and pieces while installing, which she got sent out by courier which was great.” He also praised the quality of our Optima boards, saying he’d recommend our product to anyone interested in composite cladding.
Thank you to Christopher for providing us with these brilliant pictures and insights into his experience with CladPlus - we hope the new games room will be enjoyed for years to come!
